Well, what have I been up to since April?!

In May, I turned 18, which didn't make very many changes. I still haven't been ID'ed in a pub, though I have been ID'ed in HMV for buying a DVD with the age certificate of 15... May also brought my final exams at high school. They weren't too bad and I passed all of them, which I was rather pleased about!

As for June, that month is a bit of a blur. I hardly did anything, mostly housework. July brought my Nana's 80th birthday party, which meant the boyfriend had the opportunity to meet most of my family, poor man! However, he survived and it turned out to be a very enjoyable evening. After that, the parents, the sister and I went down to Wales for two weeks. It was a very quiet fortnight, mostly filled with reading books (I finished ten) and listening to music. Two weeks after we returned from Wales, I went up to Aberfeldy for a week with the boyfriend and his parents. It was an enjoyable week away and I hope to go back up to that area next year!

As for August, I have been getting ready to start at Stevenson College Edinburgh, where I will be studying Classical Music! I had originally planned to go to Napier University, but I did not attain the required grade in Higher English to meet my condition. However, the course at Stevenson is practically the same course, so I can go to Napier in two years time! I am really looking forward to starting (next Monday), especially meeting new people who have very similar interests. The downside of going to Stevenson is the travelling. I have to leave Biggar at seven o'clock to drive all the way up to Livingstone, then walk to the Shopping centre which is twenty minutes away, then hop on a bus to Sighthill and then walk another half an hour through a business estate to the college. This year will be long! And involve a lot of coffee. But it's exciting!

Anyway, I shall try and write another post soon.

Bye!Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-29538581053703463122010-04-14T12:51:00.002+01:002010-04-14T13:14:24.645+01:00Three and a half hours later...Ok, here is my short movie review on Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring.

The first time I saw Fellowship of the Ring, I was nine and I went to see it in the cinema with my Dad. I think that it is fair to say that most nine year olds would be scared of the film. Also, I was there against my will which didn't help matters. Anyway, I didn't enjoy it and nver watched it again. That is until my delightful boyfriend told me that I should watch it and gave me the special edition. So, being a loving girlfriend, I watched it last night. All three and a half hours of it.

I won't go into detail about the film as most of the readers of this blog have seen it (and lent it to me....), so I will just start my little rant. The storyline is ok, but I wasn't drawn into the story at all. The special effects were visually dynamic, as was the scenery, but I didn't care about the characters, what they had to do, where they had to go or who they met.

Also, I had forgotten that Orlando Bloom was in the film. With long blonde hair, pointy ears and a bow and arrows. The man cannot act. I was basically watching Will Turner walking around with elves, dwarfs and hobbits and aiming his bow and arrow at... well, I can't remember what the big beasties were called, but they didn't look too happy...

Final conclusion, that is three and a half hours of my life that I will never get back and I am going to beg my boyfriend not to lend me the next two films, which apparently add up to EIGHT HOURS!!!!

I will try to write again soon, but exams are coming up, so don't be surprised if I don't write until June.

Hasta la pasta peeps!Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-79038716596277735312010-02-23T15:59:00.002+00:002010-02-23T16:19:42.233+00:00Howdy folks!Wow! Managing to blog two weeks after my previous blog, I am doing well!

Well, where to begin. In my last blog I was talking about my interview with Glasgow University, and the Prelims. Well, I have since had my interview for Moray House, as well as an interview for Napier University and Strathclyde University. I have also received my Prelim results.

Firstly, the interview at Moray House. I was all by myself for this interview, but it wasn't too bad. Applicants had been split into two groups for interviewing, and I was in the second group, which meant that I had about an hour and a half to prepare myself. The interview itself was not bad at all. We were interviewed in groups of four, with a lecteurer from the University and a Head Teacher from a local Primary School, which made the whole process slightly more enjoyable. Anyhoo, I feel that it went well, and I am now waiting to hear back. As for Napier, that was a completely different ball game. I was applying for a BMus (Honours) degree with my Principal Study as voice. I went in for my audition, managed to sing both my audition pieces in half the time (my accompanist was very enthusiastic!), and was then given a quick tour of the University. I have since heard back from Napier, and I have been offered a Conditional, so I need to achieve my Grade 5 theory and pass Higher English. No pressure. Strathclyde again was a completely different experience. The layout of the interview didn't really focus on you selling yourself, but rather the knowledge you have on up-to-date topics in the teaching world. Anyway, it was a horrible experience, and I don't expect to hear back from them anytime soon.

As for the prelims, I can honestly say that I am in a better position than I was last year. As I am sure I have moaned about in previous posts, I am taking five subjects this year, which means five exams. My results were very promising, having received an A for Art, B for Music, B for History and a C for English. Maths was.... disappointing. However, I have now got the focus to achieve good marks for the final exams in May, and then I have to worry about my Grade 5 theory. And my driving theory. And my driving test. Gulp.

Apart from Universities and prelims, there is nothing more to report on. The Juniors show Olivia goes on in April and then that is us until August. I am still taking driving lessons, as I want to be sure that I can pass first time, and then not have to worry about it, and I still work at the local bakery in Biggar. I only have... eight weeks on High School left and then I am thrown into the big, bad world. Scary stuff.

Anyway, I had better go. I have to have a debate with a fifteen year old about the flaws in the band JLS. Not my younger sister, I hasten to add, she has taste. Wish me luck!

Bye.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-12032301394391629402010-01-12T08:12:00.002+00:002010-01-12T08:19:57.246+00:00BusyHaven't blogged for quite a while.
A lot of things have happened since I last blogged. Christmas was good but quite, there has been far too much snow for my liking, Prelims are coming up and I have university interviews coming up.

Yesterday, I had my first interview at Glasgow University. This required me to have some knowledge of The Curriculum for Excellence. So I borrowed material off my lovely teachers, spent hours online and bother my mother. However, in my interview, they didn't ask me anything about The Curriculum for Excellence. But not to worry. the whole experience was rather enjoyable and good experience for other interviews.

Speaking of other interviews, I have just found out that I have an interview at Moray House. This is great apart from the fact that it is the day before my English Prelim. Also, I have to get into Edinburgh for 8:30am. How I am going to get in for 8:30, I have no idea, but we will work something out.

Anyway, I had better go and get myself ready for school. This has been a short post, but at least I have updated it.

Bye y'all.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-16475008723956066102009-09-16T21:57:00.003+01:002009-09-16T22:20:41.156+01:00Has it really been that long?I did not realise that it has nearly been 2 months since I last bored you with my blogs. A lot has changed the last three months. I am now in sixth year, I am applying for universities, my school has moved to the new building which is a cross between a prison and a hospital and the SPL season has started again which means I have to listen to the football every Saturday at work.

Oh, and I nearly forgot: I attended the Amanda Palmer book signing and the Amanda Palmer concert during the Fringe festival in Edinburgh. Both events were very enjoyable. I now have a signed CD, a picture a me and Amanda Palmer and a poster from her gig. All good fun!

As I am now in my final year at school, I now have to apply to different universities as the staff at Biggar High School want to get rid of me and my fellow classmates. It was strange going back to school without some of the friends I have made during the past 6 years, and the move to the new building. I only have one thing to say about the new building. I hate it. Plain and simple. The architect who designed the building should be shot. No common room (though, if I am honest with myself, I would never use), there are several tables set up at one end of "The Street" (stupid name for a canteen - it is NOT hip and down with da yoof), which is a pathetic excuse for a stage, the vending machines only sell healthy products, the bus bay is awful, the lockers are too small and finally, there is a lock down. Basically, the school doors lock at certain times of the day: after the second morning bell, after interval and after lunch. I am not a big fan.

As for Universities, I have to apply to 5 universities so that I do not have to pay. So my choices are: Moray House, Edinburgh University, Glasgow University, Strathclyde University, RSAMD and the Caledonian University. For a girl had never shopped in Glasgow until last year, most of my choices are in Glasgow. I am applying for universities which are easy to commute to. If I a honest with myself, I would have liked to apply to other universities such as Aberdeen, Stirling even Dundee, but it is cheaper for me to commute to uni instead of renting a flat or going into halls of residence. Anyway, I have to finish my Personal statement by tomorrow, so that should be fun.

There are a few things which have not changed. I am still single (which I am glad about as people who have public relationships (in other words, make lovey dovey faces at each other in public) make me feel sick. However, I dare not say "Get a room", as some of the comebacks I have previously recieved are just as sickening. I am still a caffine addict and a chocoholic and proud of it!! Now all that I have to do is go and listen to the new Muse cd, or go upstairs and turn the BTW production of Cinderella off.

Bye for now.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-37744073706226571932009-07-29T19:45:00.002+01:002009-07-29T19:51:56.974+01:00The worst song ever written.I do not like this song. There was another Peer Support day which was fun (no grass stains on my clothes that time), the Technology/H.E departments officially blocked off or demolition, and the teachers packing all their teaching resources and materials. Fun.

I can now say that I am happy with my timetable, apart from one subject, but best way to deal in that class is to smile and nod, and then give the teacher a low score on the rating website. Good times.

Friday was interesting as I went to the University of Edinburgh open day. I managed to find out a good deal on a couple of courses I am interested in, and then managed to get lost. However, a suvival tip I have picked up is that you will always find members of your party at a coffee shop. Keep that in mind chaps.

I have another open day tomorrow at the RSAMD, so it will be interesting to see if I get lost. I should mention that it is a straight road from Central station to the University, but it is me...

On a new topic, this week is the last week of term before an 8 week holiday! Thank god for the construction company needing a little more time to complete the new school. I am looking forward to the new school, apart from the 6th years having no social area or, more importantly, no study area. All I can say that it is going to be very interesting in August. In the meantime, I look forward to our fortnight holiday up north. Two weeks of walking, swimming, reading and DVD's! Tis going to be good.

Anyway, I had better go and gag my younger sibling.

Wish me luck. Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-19926298649505887952009-06-11T15:55:00.003+01:002009-06-11T16:14:17.549+01:00Grass

Well, today was the Peer Support day at the school. This involved all the sixth years walking down to the Rugby Club and participating in team building activites. Most of these activities either started or ended on the ground.

One activity invloved going over a rope which was held at shoulder height. Nobody told us that the rope could be lowered, therefore everyone was lifting people over the rope and literally throwing them over the rope. I was chucked over by a previous husband of mine and another friend. I ended up on the ground covered with grass. It was fun!

After about an hour or two, we went into the club and ad lunch. We found a juke box near the bar, and so played a lot of music which disgusted a certain Guidence (previously a music teacher).

Anyway, I am going to go now, but here are a few pictures of today's activities.

Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-41024816627376269462009-05-17T12:55:00.007+01:002009-05-17T13:00:28.235+01:00Can you guess what it is?Seeing as I have nothing to report on, or moan about, I thought I would upload a few pictures from work and see if anyone can guess what it is.

Good luck!

Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-42206872838711777912009-05-01T21:43:00.002+01:002009-05-01T21:45:12.049+01:00I am so easily amused.I found this rather funny. Exams are only a few weeks away, which means study leave. Last year, study leave was fabulous. I remember most of the time in the Burn Braes (and studying of course...). This year will be better as I only have five exams, three of which I am pretty confident with.

Anyway, this weekend I turn seventeen. This of course means driving lessons. I am rather excited about this, though I have been notified by my sister that I am to become her personal taxi. We shall see. I have also been told that neither one of my parents are taking me out driving at all. Oh well.

Anyway, I have to go. I shall leave you with a video from The Cardigans. They are jolly good!

Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-86794446276020594312009-04-23T16:06:00.002+01:002009-04-23T16:16:54.037+01:00Long Time, No SeeIt has been a while since I have written. To tell the truth, which is always wise, apart from my two outing in the first week of the Easter holidays and the trip to the cinema to see 17 Again for my sister's birthday, nothing has really been interesting to report on.

The trip to the Doctor Who Exhibition was fabulous! Standing in front of David Tennant's jacket, and then grinning next to his picture was a wonderful treat. I know, I am terribly sad, but I was not the only one grinning in front of costumes.

We went to the Zoo that week as well, and again, it was fabulous. It didn't rain, which is always a bonus when you live in Scotland, though we all had to look after two young ladies, who told me that if I do not marry in the next three years, I will be in big trouble with the law. Never mind that I have already been married 3 times.

The cinema was an interesting experience. Firstly, the film itself wasn't that bad, but I took a book with me just in case. Secondly, I will now b paying attention to who I sit next to in the cinema, as I do not want a loud description of how Zac Efron's six-pack is "drop dead gorgeous".

Anyway, I am now back to school, feels like I was never away, and the exams are fast approaching. I should probably go and study now.

Au revoir.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-62918739206579595412009-03-27T16:41:00.002+00:002009-03-27T16:46:36.324+00:00Beatboxing.Normally, I don't really listen to beatboxing. I just never really got into it. But I found this on youtube, and thought it was simply brilliant. I can assure you that the man in the video is playing the flute.

Oh, and this one!

In other news, I am going to a Jazz gig at the local theatre. Second time in two weeks that I am doing front of house. Hopefully this time, I will not be left to do it all by myself. Too quiet.Today, I read an article about a volunteer worker finding a 30 year old Dalek head in the bottom of a pond. Apparently, the head had been dumped after fliming on location. Well, I thought it was funny!

The King And I rehearsals are now up to 6 days a week, which means I am cream cracked. Plus the teachers at my school have decided to give me homework in each subject. The joy of fifth year.

Next week, The King and I will be over, and I will be looking forward to the Juniors party. Not because it is likely that I will be chased by small people (one in particular comes to mind) but because I am going for a curry afterwards. I will need it as I have recently found out that my pratical music exam is also that day.

Anyway, must go and start tea, do homework and take a lot of medication so I have a voice tonight.

I will leave you will a video that I simply love.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNIa2_exmo0Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-56026692429049720992009-02-22T19:39:00.002+00:002009-02-22T19:46:33.454+00:00Have you missed me?Seeing as I haven't written in a while, I thought I would do so just now.

Today has been a very, very long day at the theatre. We had two rehearsals of the first act of the King And I, which was just plain cruelty to all those involved! Firstly, our fabulous director was in charge of the music. Though he is a talented man, and I do not doubt that he can do some "wizard" things with technology, he should not be allowed to in charge of putting on music which has to be sung to. Plus, his laptop makes this very disturbing noise which oddly goes off at the worst possible time.

Anyway, the children in the Juniors were great, and were very good at working with the adults. In fact, they showed most of them up, which is very good for them, and very embarassing for the adults. I, of course, find this very amusing!

So, the rehearsals are finished, and I think I am going to get some food now, so I will leave you with a truly awful joke!

An Indian consulted his medicine man about a pain in his stomach that had persisted for three months.

"For something as long as that," said the Medicine Man, "I have a more drastic remedy than the herbs I normally prescribe. Chew on this leather thong every day. It is 31 inches long: chew one inch every day, and at the next moon come back."

The Indian dutifully did as directed, and at the next moon he returned to the Medicine Man.

"How do you feel?" the Medicine Man asked.

"The thong is ended, but the malady lingers on."Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-60699848641718724332009-02-04T21:27:00.002+00:002009-02-04T21:40:31.135+00:00What has been going on?Well, today was the last of my prelims, so that was a positive thing. And I got my car as well. Now all I have to do is finish my Provisional License form, get £50 for the license and then wait 2 months and 27 days until I am legally allowed to drive my car.

Other news:
- The King and I rehearsals are very confusing, as some of them are cancelled and other things.
- Some friends and I are trying to get to the Doctor Who exhibition in Glasgow as we are all geeks and proud of it.
- I am still on the look-out for Mr Ben Folds to have a concert at the SECC
- Contemplating maybe going to T in the Park, but nothing is set in stone.

So, there is an awful lot to look forward to.

Anyway, gotta go

Bye.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-7574278686956823972009-02-02T18:00:00.002+00:002009-02-02T18:08:44.558+00:00New PhotoI have decided that I need a new photo for my blog and my Twitter profile. The one that I have on just now is an ok one, but I would prefer one with just me. If anyone has any photos (mum, this DOES NOT include baby photos) I would be interested.

Only one more prelim and then I am free for... 3 and a 1/2 months. Bring on the February holiday! Nothing else is new with me. My life is quite boring at the moment. I think that I will just add a few videos or something.

Bye bye.

Enjoy.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-54069997762530781142009-01-28T07:48:00.002+00:002009-01-28T07:56:52.674+00:00Freaky Adverts.I know I am sad, but I can't help it!

Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-63360816265246624052009-01-19T17:48:00.003+00:002009-01-22T07:40:47.226+00:00Let it snow, Let it snowToday was a rather confusing day. Didn't get to my bed until 1 o'clock this morning waiting for the washing machine to finish. so I got up at the usual time this morning and went to school. I suffered two periods of English (you have to love double periods) and then went to French. This is where I found out that the school was closing due to snow. This is where the fun began.

Whenever there is a snow day, I always phone my dad to come and save us, as people who live in Biggar are compelled to stay in the school until all the other pupils have left. Seeing as we have to walk home, the pupils from Biggar find this slightly unfair. So we phone our parents to get us out before everyone else. This time, however, it was not this simple. I look after a little person a couple of nights a week, and of course, today was one of them. So when I was in my French class, my phone went off, as little person's dad was trying to phone me. So, by some sneaky, but clever texting, I managed to break out of school, and assist three other people to escape the horrid place.

Anyway, the downside of looking after little people is that, on a snow day you have to stay with them until their parents come home. So I have spent 4 and a half hours watching someone elses TV. Not a bad way to earn money, but it was still rather stressful.

So as a whole, the day has been rather active. I am now going to my bed because I need to catch up on some sleep.

Bye for now.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-14903248160100554742009-01-04T18:29:00.002+00:002009-01-04T18:37:05.947+00:00Happy New Year!Well, it feels weird that we are now in 2009. This means the following
- I turn 17 in May
- I start getting driving lessons
- It is only a year until we head out to South Africa for the World Cup (not a good reason to see my brother)
- The King and I is approaching, fast!
- My prelims are in 3 weeks
- My exams are in 18 weeks.

Though revising is no-ones favourite pass time, I am truly grateful that I only have 5 subjects to study. Cheating even more, I am only setting 3 Highers this year. However, the past 2 weeks have been rather hellish, while on the subject of homework. It has taken me the most of my holidays to finish a critical essay, which was only finished this morning. Anyway, it is done now, so all is well and good.

Anything else to say??? Nope. It has been a very quiet holiday.

All the best for 2009.

Bye bye.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-18751807048765056532008-12-06T22:50:00.002+00:002008-12-06T22:58:06.296+00:00last.fmWhilst looking through last.fm (and becoming annoyed with how slow it is), I have been searching some of the artists that are similar to the artists and groups that I like. My question is, has anyone out there heard of Placebo, and are they worth a listen to???

Other than is query, I have not been up to much. I was working today, and actually managed to get home at half past four instead of later on in the evening. I have to grin and bear it, as I am saving for driving lessons. In my personal opinion, a good cause.

Also new in Jenny world, it has come to all of Biggar High School's senior section of the school that the prelims are only six weeks away, and then the exams are five months away. Another question that I have for anyone who is willing to answer: When you start exams, does the year go so fast that you find yourself in more exams?

Anyway, got to go. I have a full day of rehearsals tomorrow.

Bye.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-34412658684019985762008-12-04T17:25:00.003+00:002008-12-04T17:36:02.767+00:00Let It Snow, well, not quite!Well, today was a big disappointment. Apparently, the whole country was to experience some rather nasty blizzards and be under 8 inches of snow. Excuse me while I laugh!

We did not get one drop! South Lanarkshire was the place to be if you didn't want any festive weather! Which means many pupils came to school with no homework (I was not one of them). Anyway, I have Parents Evening tonight, and then the Christmas Review rehearsal, which, if I am being honest, I am not looking forward to it. But sometimes you just have to do it. Especially if it is your mother's play!

What else is happening? The King and I rehearsals for the Juniors are going great. However, the Youth section... is not. Our director is ill, all we ever do is dance "The Small House Of Uncle Thomas" and I do not see the point in going every week to sit around doing nothing. But, I would be a hypocrit if I didn't go along, so I have to deal with it.

Also, as the christmas season approaches fastly, the "Social event of the year" is coming along with it. Every year, teenage girls (and a few boys I might add) spend money on the christmas dance gear. I will admit that I like shopping, but it wastes so much time! But I also have the Juniors Xmas party to look forward to, so, it should be good.

Anyway, I have to go now.

Bye.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1538747481608786308.post-34390797125949164362008-12-01T08:07:00.002+00:002008-12-01T08:14:00.167+00:00Tis the Season to be Jolly! It is now December, and it seems like this year has gone by too quickly. I had my exams in May, and in January, my prelims are on. I was also thinking about a friend of mine. She announced she was pregnant in March, and her baby is now five weeks old!

Anyway, as christmas is approaching I am glad to say that I have finished my christmas shopping, which of course is an annoyance to my dear mother. I have wrapped most of them, except one which is quite big. This is for my friend, so it is going to be interesting how I get it to his house!

Anyway, have to go to school now.

Bye.Jenny Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10137234980203773434noreply@blogger.com1
